New Years Resolutions 2009

Posted By: Mark Aplet 3 Comments January 14, 2009

I heard from someone that you're not serious about your new years resolutions until you write them down. Apparently this is some form of accountability program designed to make you stick to them. Truth or fiction? I don't know but here are my resolutions for 2009.

Okay it's written in my blog. Like being written in stone. Not capable of being edited or altered. :) The betting begins now! Place your bets in the comments area.

It's funny, I was in Starbucks this morning, and it was empty. The barista mentioned there's always less people drinking cofee after new year's. On the same note, I can never find parking at my gym in January.

I like the photography and the software ones. I've thought many times that I'd like to contribute some code to a personal and/or open source project. I never get around to it though. Maybe I'll add that to my list as well.

Writing down resolutions and sharing them publicly is a great idea. The more friends know that you want to quit smoking (or drinking soda, for that matter), the better.

Myself and a few friends even created a website for that http://www.pledgehammer.com . It adds a charitable extra incentive - if you don't keep your pledge it asks you to donate money to charity.

We’ve gotten off to a good start as in the number of pledges has grown fast - but will it help going camping at the Lost Coast :) ?

So Mark....... how's that "not drinking soda" thang....... goin? (chuckles)

As for the Lost Coast trip, count me in! I'd be happy to help you keep that resolution :)
